Costume Testing.

Here are the last three test shots our group took in relation to our costume research for our teaser trailer. Here again we established that we signified the problems with the costume on our model. Here we took three close up shots of the wrist and arm area to point out what needs to be taken into consideration when styling our actor in our teaser trailer. The first two images visually show again the problem with the overall lengthening of the costume. Here we saw that when our model posed in certain body positions the costume arms stretched out so the models clothing underneath the costume are visible. Also we were also able to signify that our models accessorise we also visible when the costume was stretched which lead to our conclusion that our actor will have to wear a specific coordination of clothing that will contrast in with our chosen costume.
The last shot also reestablishes the fact that our costume isn't long enough for our character to wear in our teaser trailer. Here again we are able to visually see that our models clothing underneath is visible when the costume is stretched. We decided as a group that our actor will have to wear clothing that it acceptable enough so that it doesn't affect the characters costume. For example material that wont clinch and create creases onto the costume, also the fact that all accessorize that are not part of the costume e.g bracelet will have to be hidden under material or taken off.

Here are the eleventh and twelfth shots we took in relation to our costume testing. Here we took two close up shots of the lower level of the costume to signify the problems raised in the previous test shots. In shot number eleven we took a close up side view angle shot showing the length of the costume from a side view perspective. Here we wanted to establish that the costume length wasn't long enough, so in response to this certain methods of styling will have to be taken into consideration.
Again in shot twelve we established that we have taken into consideration that our chosen costume isn't long enough. From both test shots eleven and twelve we have come to a decision that our actor will have to wear appropriate clothing that will contrast in with the chosen costume for there acting character in the teaser trailer. We have decided that clothing that are styled in a plain black material will have to be worn both on the leg area and the feet to blend in with the costume.
Here are the ninth and tenth photographic shots we took in relation to our costume testing. Here Again we were able to establish the problems with our chosen costume for our villain character.Shot number nine shots a long shot of our model in the costume, here again we were able to signify that the costume wasn't long enough when our model stood in a certain position. Here in this shot our models body language is intended to connote the presence of power, and having a dangerous impact on how audience members visualize the character.By our model standing in a position with both arms out stretched shows the problem with lengthening with the costume. Here again we were able to see that the models clothing underneath the costume is visible when the costume is stretched.
Test shot number ten shots a medium long shot of our model in our chosen costume. Here we wanted to take more detailed shot of our model in the costume so we could see any other problem elements that would be needed to take into consideration when filing our teaser trailer. From this test shot we were again able to identify that the material of the grim reaper costume caused creases and gripped to the material of our models clothing underneath the costume. From both of these shots and previous test shots like this we were able to conclude that our actor playing the role in the teaser trailer would have to wear clothing with a material that wont cling to there acting costume. Also our actor will have to wear a specific style and color of shoes that will blend in with the costume so that it ties in with their acting role.
Up above is the eighth photographic image, taken in a long shot perspective. This shot shows the model in a full visual of the costume. The costume can be visually seen from the models facial area down to end length of the costume. Here is the seventh and eighth shot we took in relation to our costume test shots. Here we changed the angle perspective of the camera position to capture some shots that would show the full view of the costume on the model. In the seventh shot we were able to identify the problem elements of the costume. Our model in shot seven chose to stand in the centre of the composition with there arms stretched out at both sides. Here we were able to signify we had a problem that our costume wasn't long enough to cover the full length of the individuals body. Here we saw that the models clothing that wasn't part of the costume could be seen in parts. Our models wore dark denim jeans underneath the costume which could be visually seen when the costume was stretched. We were also able to identify that our models shoes could be seen when the costume was stretched.

In the eighth testing shot we identified another problem with the costume. We saw visually that the models clothing underneath the costume clinged to the material of the grim reaper costume which created a number of streaks and creases throughout the costume. From both these shots we discussed that our character acting as the villain in our teaser trailer would have to wear clothing that would not cling to the characters costume in the production. And also that acceptable shoes would be worn to contrast in with characters costume.
Here is the sixth photographic test shot we took in the testing of our costume. Here again we continued the process of experimenting with how mode of expressions and body language are used to portray and give the visual representation of a villain character. Here we took a long shot of our model to see the visual view on how the costume looked in this particular mode of body language. Here our model stood at a side angle stretching both there arms out. Here again we wanted our model to reinforce the idea of the character having a dark and powerful presence. This was enhanced by the physical appearance of the costume and body language. The negative factor on this test shot is the lighting. In comparison to the other test shots the lighting in this shot is more high key which does not follow the stereotypical conventions of a horror genre. The lighting effect in this shot creates a bland effect upon the other subjects in the composition. Here is the fith test shot we did in relation to our costume testing.Again this shot is a long shot which captures the model from the facial area to the the bottom of the leg. This shot shows similarities in comparison to shots three and four. Here our models body language reinforces the idea of having an overpowering dominance in the composition. This ideology is enhanced by the costume and the mode of body language and expressions which is being acted by the model. The difference between this shot and shots three and four is the lighting. In comparison to the two other shots the lighting in this shot is more high key which does not follow the conventions of a horror genre effectively. From this experimentation we are able to signify that low key lighting will be the best to create the atmosphere of a horror setting.
Here is the fourth test shot our group took in the relation to our costume testing. This shot is a similar shot to shot three. The shot is a long shot which shows the front area of the model down from the facial area to the bottom of the leg. This shot shows similarities of body language to shot three, where the model is stretching out both arms in order to convey the sense of a character who has dominating presence of power which is emphasized by the costume that creates the effect. The difference of this shot to shot three is the lighting. This shot has a more detailed effect of low key lighting which darkens and enhances the shadows in the surrounding background. The lighting in this shot is effectively better as it emphasizes the character in a more negative portrayal and follows the conventions of a horror genre more in the concept of lighting and visual effects.
Here is the third test shot our group took in relation to our costume testing. This shot is a long shot which shows the front of the body area, from the facial area to the bottom of the leg. Here we wanted get a visual view of how the character would be seen in this particular camera shot, and how we could experiment with body language within the composition. Here the model is situated in the centre of the composition at a more forward distance. In this shot the models body language again conveys the sense of having an overpowering dominance within the surroundings which is enhanced by the costume. The models body position of having both arms clenching out towards the camera lense portrays a very stereotypical portrayal of a villain character.Audience members will easily be able to recognise the character as having a negative presence within the teaser trailer.
Here is our second photographic costume testing shot. This shot is again a long shot of the model form a side angle view. Here our model started to do some experimenting with his body language to portray the villain character. In this shot our models body language conveys the sense of dark and having a powerful presence within the composition. The fact that our models head is down and both arms are stretched out symbolize the individual as the villain character.A benefiting factor to the body language is barrier which is created between the character and the audience, due to the fact that they can see the models face reinforces the idea that the character has an overpowering presence.Throughout the shot the lighting is low key which creates the emphasise on a horror genre. The lighting creates a shadow effect which highlights the existing objects in the surroundings of the composition and the models silhouette.
Here our group took a variety of photographic test shots in order to experiment and test out our chosen costume for our villain character in our teaser trailer. Here we chose to use a costume which would be distinctive enough for audience members to correspond that particular character as the villain. We used this particular costume due to the fact that it fits in with the professional conventions of a villain character.

The costume used is an ankle length black grim reaper outfit, fitted with two white ropes which tie around the individuals writs and a long hood which covers the characters full facial area.Audience members will be able to establish the character as the villain due to the costumes design and colour, the whole area of the costume is materialised in black which represents, evil, dark and danger as a code to audience members. The costume represents death as a sentience which enables audience members to visualize the character to symbolize and perceive death. The grim reaper costume is categorically known to cause a victims death. In relation to our teaser trailer the costume is a positive element for our villain character to be represented in their given role due to its professional conventions.

Here is a long shot photograph of the first test image we took, the photo shows visually the full length of the costume from a side view angle shot. From a visual analysis on this test shot we can see that the costume covers the full body length down to the top of the ankle, facial area and arms.In this test shot our models body language was specifically used to convey they visual interpretation of the villain character. The fact that the costume represents a character that takes an individuals life we wanted to convey the same visual effect through our models body language. An advantage of this test shot is the background lighting. The lighting in this test shot is low key which enables our group to have a visualization of what the costume will look like in the setting of low key lighting. Our model is situated in the right hand side of the composition where the lighting is lower key than the rest of the shot. This lighting conveys the sense of the character having a dark and powerful presence upon his role within the teaser trailer.
